It has been an exciting week! First of all, it was my 34th birthday on Saturday, now almost a week ago.
This is me on my birthday.
We went to Charlottesville, VA for a wedding. Because the bride and groom are weird, creative, delightful people, they had a wedding that fit them perfectly. It was a masquerade ball.
David and I were suitably attired.
And the wedding party was as well. The guy on the far right is the groom’s brother, and his shoes had a 6 inch platform on them. I couldn’t help a quick little, “Thank you, Hagrid”, when he directed us from the cocktail hour to the ceremony.
The bride and groom were fantastic. I especially loved the bride's tuxdeo jacket/dress. It had a train in the back, and it was so fabulous.
And a great time was had by all.
On Sunday we took the train home. I was nervous the whole way that public transportation would shut down ahead of the storm and we would get stranded, but we made it back in time to prepare for Hurricane Sandy
For our part, we are safe, and our basement is even dry. We were without power for 3 days, and we got it back last night. Our house got down to 57 degrees F, but we managed, and we were so lucky considering what other people are having to face right now. David and I have had the whole week off because the power is still out at our work.
I'm so thankful that I knit, quilt, and crochet, because it really helped keep us warm this week!
Let me leave you with another pic from my "Oberon Helps Sew" series, although this one is actually "Oberon Helps Knit".
Love your mask! And I agree, the bride's dress was absolutely fabulous.
(It is very strange to see photos of one's "real life" friends on a blog, especially when you had no idea they were in any way related...I wasn't at the wedding but I know the bride and her brother :)

Indeed a fabulous dress on the bride, was it custom made?

Happy belated Birthday!
What a fun wedding, and I love your mask.
Oberon doesn't look very "helpful" on the knitting front.
