I've been wanting to sew a dress out of sweater-knit fabric for years now. I first saw sweater-knit fabric for sale at Stonemountain and Daughter Fabrics in Berkeley, but it was so expensive (and I had sewn so few knits) that I didn't buy it. This Christmas I went to Britex Fabrics in San Francisco, and I got myself two different sweater-knit fabrics. This one was 50% off, and only a little expensive.
I went with a tried-and-true pattern, Simplicity 3775. This is my fourth time making this pattern! I'm happy with how it turned out. All went as expected, except that the hem ruffled. I like that.
I added a little modestly panel to the deep v neck so I can wear this to work. I also cuffed up the sleeves instead of sewing a normal hem.
I'm so pleased with this dress. I feel like I've finally conquered winter knitting! Since it's all wool, I was actually getting warm at work last week. It's nice to wear a dress in wintertime and still feel warm.
