Thank you all for your kind words and sympathy! I went to the doctor again today, and I'm allowed to use my hand again. Albeit with some chunky bandages on three fingers.
But I can touch type! And knit somewhat awkwardly! I actually very determinedly knit a few stitches every day since my injury, so my knitting streak is still unbroken. I'm a stubborn person.
But anyway, here's a pretty finished object! From before the accident!
Pattern: Standard top-down stockinette sock with a corrugated rib cuff.
Yarn: Leftovers of a Zauberball in 1536, Wollmeise 80/20 Twin in Natural.
Needles: US 1 DPNs
These socks use the leftover yarn from my Zauberball socks, striped with great effect with some natural-colored sock yarn. I heart them. I actually had not worn them (it's been warm!) and then I grabbed them to put on right before we left to go to the ER on Friday. I can't say it made the trip less painful, but it did make me a tiny bit happy to peek down and see the socks a couple of times.
Because I didn't try, the socks don't match up in color. Also, I only had a couple of yards left over from these socks, so I probably would not have been successful anyway. I like them mismatched.
It was very satisfying to use up virtually the entire skein of yarn and get two pairs of interestingly-colored socks!
That's a very clever use of zauberball. Maybe I'll buy some noro in that lovely cream colourway to use up my noro stash.

I adore these socks, and I wouldn't like them nearly as much if they *did* match! Glad to hear that you're healing.

I love your socks! I have some Noro in my stash that I have not found a project for and I think this would be perfect. Now to find the alternating yarn...

Those are stunning! I've been wanting to make striped socks this way for a while now, but I always get stumped about the floats/jog. What did you do about that? Can we see? :)
Also, I'm so glad your hand is doing better!

Glad your hand is feeling a little better! Those socks are a great reward for such an ordeal:) I love them!

I love the mismatchedness of the socks! Reminds me of the Camper "Twins" shoes, in which the shoes are more like fraternal than identical twins. And glad your fingers are better -- I was grasping my hands in sympathy pains when I read your previous post.

Absolutely love these! And, I have some leftover Crazy Zauberball, too. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no?

I love how these came out! I have some leftovers of this very same color yarn in my stash and may just copy you with some neutral for a striped sock . . . eventually. =)
Great job!

Glad you are healing so well!
Those socks are great! Very cheerful. The corrugated rib is a nice touch.
