I apologize to those of you who don't have snow right now, and who might be a little tired of hearing about it. The rest of us are a little preoccupied with it, and cannot seem to stop talking about it. But there's just so much of it!
David and I both have had two days off from work, and we've had a very cozy time. We did take some time to play in the snow, but mostly have been inside working on puzzles and knitting.
This snowman is especially well outfitted. He has a hand-knit hat and scarf!
Because of the snow, I finished up a pair of socks!
Pattern: My own
Yarn: The March Hare Fingering Superwash Merino in Glacier
Needles: US 1 DPNs
Time to Knit: January 1, 2010 to February 10, 2010
Ann has been raving about this yarn, so I picked some up at Rhinebeck last year. It was delightful to work with! The color is gorgeous, and it's very soft.
I'm especially happy with the cuff of these socks. I wanted a picot-type look, but I didn't want to do all of the work to get a picot edge!
To do this, I cast on twice the number of stitches, knit one round, and then did a lot of decreases on the next round. I think it's cute, and it was fun and easy to do. It also makes for an especially stretchy edge to the sock.
And finally, today my blog is three. A lot has changed in knit blog land over the past three years; many people have moved over to using Ravelry or Flickr. I'm glad that I'm still here, and that you are here with me. To celebrate, I'll send a little something to a random commenter on today's post. Happy knitting!
I'm in MN, and we have lots of snow but not quite as much all at once as you! Adorable all around - snowman, snowman-makers, and socks ; ).

I am very jealous of all your snow. I grew up in Virginia and just recently moved to Boston where I thought I would be getting much more snow. And we haven't seen more than an inch at a time this year.

Congrats on turning three!
As for the snow, we got two lousy inches in eastern Connecticut. I'm not sure if I'm thankful or not!

Happy three years, time sure does fly!
Hope you enjoying the snow.

Wow - those socks - I love them - what a fun little cuff! And your snowman is the best dressed I've seen. Stay warm:)
And I know what you mean on blogland changing, I kind of miss things.

Happy Blogiversary. I love your knitting projects- and your quilting is inspiring me to perhaps, try a couple of mini-quilts. Thanks to you, too, for being here.

I'm super jealous of your snow--by the time I move back to the East Coast this summer, their snow will be all gone, and there's no guarantee we'll have as much next year :(
Your blog is lovely, even though I've been lurking only a short while, so I'm glad to see you back!

I have to admit I am more envious than bored of the snow talk from all my east coast friends. Our week's worth of it in the UK earlier in the year pales into insignificance. I am also going to copy your sock cast on - what a brilliant idea!

Happy Blogiversary! I love your cast-on idea!

We just got out today!! Our road is still one lane as were a few other roads leading to civilization!! This has been an amazing snowstorm and we are in for even more on Monday-Tuesday...but only a mere 5 inches then! LOL! I am over it!!
Happy knitting and happy 3rd blogiversary!!!

Happy three years!
Wow! That's a lot of snow!
I like that idea for a top of a sock. Very clever.
