Oh, 2009, what a year it has been for me! During the spring and early summer of this year, I realized that I was probably happier then than I'd ever been in my life, and I tried to appreciate it as much as I could because I knew it wouldn't last forever. Then I caught H1N1 in July, and my health still has not fully recovered. Adding in a lot of work and stress from being a teacher-in-training, I am one tired girl.
But I know that the teacher training will pay off in the end and that I'll figure out how to manage all of it better as I go along. And I know I'll be healthy again sometime... I'm working very hard on that right now and I think it's paying off. I'm optimistic about this new year, and I will work to make it better than the end of this past one.
Here is the list of my resolutions for 2009. As I look over them, I see that there are some I didn't do at all (designing? trying new techniques?), and it doesn't really bother me. I actually wanted to knit a little bit less in order to make more time for other things that are important to me, and I did that. I've read more books and seen more movies this year than in past years. I've knit every single day, but sometimes it was just a few stitches, and that was OK.
Would you like to see what I did knit this year? I found it interesting to note also how my hair has gotten progressively shorter over the year as well :)
The totals are:
7 sweaters (nope, didn't finish NaKniSweMoDo!)
1 vest
3 pairs of gloves/mittens
5 pairs of socks (and 5 singles)
4 hats
1 cowl
All but one pair of socks was plain stockinette. I'm finding that I prefer wearing stockinette socks! This year I was mainly focused on sweaters, and they're still what I'm finding to be the most interesting.
I also did some sewing and quilting this year.
Those totals:
4 shirts
5 dresses
3 big quilts
4 mini quilts
12 micro quilts
1 handbag
I'm disappointed that I still haven't done much cold-weather sewing, but I think that health and tiredness has factored into that this fall. I still have some cold weather ahead in the next few months, and I'm hoping that I'll be at my sewing machine for at least some of it. I think the garments that I sewed this year were in general better planned and better fitted. I know I still have a lot of room for improvement, and I will keep working on that in 2010!
Whew, this post is long enough, so I'll get to New Year's resolutions on a different day. I hope that you have a wonderful time welcoming in the new year, and I'll be back here in the new decade :)
What a busy and wonderfully creative year you have had. I wish you much health and recovery in the new year! Take care!
