Well, the 2009 pandemic has reached my home. I've got influenza, and my doctor thinks it's likely to be swine flu. My symptoms are only cough and fever, but oh man, I never realized how debilitating a fever can be. (I don't think I've had a serious fever since I was little.) I'm keeping things under control with some carefully regimented medicine, but my energy level is crazy low.
In addition to this, David has been out of town since I got sick, so I've been home alone for four days! (He's due back imminently, and I'm already planning what supplies I would like for him to pick up.) I'm so grateful that I have the hobbies I do, or else I might be really sick and crazy!
During my high-energy times, I've been knitting and hand quilting. I'm almost to the second sleeve cap on Betty.
I've also got a shoebox full of hexagons, organized by color.
But I have to admit, that after four days of this (and lots and lots of CSI variants on TV), I'm getting really bored. Would you take pity on me and entertain me? I'll give you three things I find interesting, and I'd love it if you left me a comment with something interesting of your own.
1. This video of an elephant painting a self portrait. No, I didn't believe either it until I actually watched the video.
2. My friend Chawne has a really irreverent quilt in progress right now. I find it quite hilarious.
3. My typepad stats are seriously high today.
I think Microsoft's new search engine might be indexing me. Every search that links back to my blog is some simple word like "green", and I can't imagine that this little blog is really going to be very high on the list for that kind of search!
OK, I'm off to rest up after all the energy I used writing this post! I'd advise you all to be very careful to avoid the swine flue, because it is seriously annoying. And feel very sorry for anyone you know who might have it. It's really that bad!
I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well - thank gosh for hobbies indeed! I love that yoga hexagon!

I saw that show with the painting elephants! So cool! It seems that I've seen some other cool things to pass on over the week but can't think of any of them. An oldie but goodie is the simple little word game over at deepleap.org if you haven't seen it yet. I'll keep my eyes out on Facebook for interesting things my FB friends are watching. :)
Hang in there. Swine flu can't be any fun at all.

OK! My husband was watching this video right after I posted that last comment. I think you need to be a Facebook member to see it, but it's really awesome!

Oh, goodness. So terrible. Here's a video that I adore:

Reminds me of the group Improv Everywhere (http://improveverywhere.com/).
Hope you're on the mend soon!

Hmmm. Something entertaining? I like to watch The Daily Show (live streaming video on Comedy Central) myself.
My daughter seems to have hit teenaged-hood all of a sudden last week (she's 14). She's been a dream until then, but suddenly everything I say is met with either bored impatience or outright eye rolls.
So at least you are not trapped with an unsympathetic teen.
I guess that's not that entertaining is is.
that's all I've got this morning.
Feel better soon!

Oh that sucks big time. My neighbor's daughter had the swine flu too. I found this video hilarious. Hope you do too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-0dzKH1Rfs&feature=PlayList&p=A2FF4D04A4FBFCED&index=1&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL

I hope you are feeling better! I've not been on the computer much lately except for work (and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't find next-generation DNA sequencing entertaining), so I am not very entertaining. But have you seen the Fairgyle sock pattern on Ravelry? Your Betty sweater brought it to mind.

Don't know how you feel about Star Wars, but these screencaps of mistranslated English-to-Chinese-to-English subtitles make Revenge of the Sith almost watchable:

In a similar vein, a list of Uncomfortable Plot Summaries:

Well, they kept me amused for a little while!
