I've been thinking all weekend about how that ugly dress is at the top of my blog page, and how I really need to get something done to blog about! Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'll let you know what I end up doing with the dress. (I'm also glad that only 2 people thought I should stop sewing!)
Meanwhile, I've been knitting. I wanted another big project after my Olympic Sweater, and this is one I've had in mind for a long time. I bought this Kauni yarn online from a store in Denmark, and I was originally planning to use two strands of it to make the Venezia Pullover.
I had been stalling on making it, but I got excited again when I thought about pairing a solid color with the Kauni. I think I was unconsciously afraid of it being too rainbowy, and I really want to get some use out of a sweater that takes so long to knit! I settled on a purplish brown color of Rowan Felted Tweed.
So far, I love it! I got one ball of the Felted Tweed from my LYS and ordered the rest, and I really hope it gets here soon. I could have bought the same stuff at Webs, but the lady at my LYS did help me find a good match for the Kauni, and well, it felt like the right thing to do. I hope that it doesn't take to long to arrive, becuase I don't want to regret that decision!
Also, I've been working on a sock from the first issue of Knotions. (For those who haven't found it yet, Knotions is a free online magazine started by the wonderfully technical knitter, Jody of Savannahchik.)
The yarn (Tess Supersock & Baby) was a gift from Jody because I couldn't make it to Maryland Sheep & Wool. It seemed very appropriate that I use it for this pattern! The pattern has been a fun and interesting knit, and I like it very much so far!
Oooh. the Venezia looks so pretty!!!!

That sweater will be Gorgeous, with a capital Gor-Geous! The socks look lovely, too...but they look like too much purling for me!

Those colors for the sweater are beautiful!! I showed my mom your blog and she said "WOW! How much does she charge for a sweater?" ;) Your work is very impressive!

I think pairing the a solid and the mixed together was genius. I love the interplay of color. I started mine in two solids. I can't do the stripey--yours will be done in like 3 or 4 weeks while I will likely still be slogging on mine in 3 or 4 years. Sigh.
