I've been busy working on Christmas gifts (more on that later), but I needed a quick hat to keep me warm. I have had difficulty finding knitted hats I like in the past. Usually the hats I pick have a brim, and those of the sock hat variety look kind of silly on me. When I was at the mall the other day, I tried on a beret, and I liked how it looked. Enter my new hat.
Pattern: Le Slouch by Wendy Bernard
Yarn: Morehouse Merino 3 Strand in Raspberry, a little more than 1 skein
Needles: US8 and US9
Time to Knit: Dec 1 - 2
Modifications: I went with the less slouchy version, so I only knit 4.5 inches before I started the decreases.
I had a little over a ball of yarn left over from my CowlTop (more on that later, too), and I really wanted to mark this yarn as "All Used Up" on Ravelry. (Is this a huge motivator to anyone else? It is to me. Huge.)
Quick knit, easy pattern, nice end product, checking things off on Ravelry, and a warm head. What's not to love?
Now back to the gift knitting!

Cute beret! Which, by the way, was a word from Saturday's _New_York_Times_ crossword puzzle....

by the way...the pattern link actually takes you to the Harmony DPN page on knit picks. I'd love to see the "le Slouch" link if you have it!

Cute topper! I am glad that you are taking time out of the Christmas knitty to knit something for yourself. I am going to do that too. I think it will help maintain some semblance of sanity.

Cute hat! I made a Le Slouch last year but it wasn't slouchy enough. I should give it another try.

Very cute! I love how berets look on other people, but I always look so silly in them. I envy you!

The hat is nice. I have wanted to knit that one, but I don't wear hats.
Your Cobblestone looks great! I love the color you used.

I really like that pattern. I've been knitting and ripping out and knitting and ripping out trying to make a hat I won't feel dopey in. I have this fabulous plum-colored cashmere and I want something I'll be excited about wearing. Maybe that's the pattern I need! Thanks.
