When I received a box of yarn as a birthday gift from a friend, I really fell for one skein in particular. I had been wanting to make some fingerless mitts for a few weeks (it's getting cold outside!), and the Mountain Colors Twizzle seemed to be just the right yarn.
Pattern: Natalya by Jody of Savannah Chik
Yarn: Mountain Colors Twizzle in Bitterroot Rainbow, 0.5 skein
Needles: US4 DPNs
Time To Knit: Nov 1 - 5
Modifications: Even though I knit this on much smaller needles, I didn't have to adjust the number of stitches to make it fit my hands. I did have a different row gauge, so I knit more cable repeats after the thumb gusset, and I picked up more stitches around the thumb than called for. I also reversed the cable on the second mitt.
This was a very fast, enjoyable knit. I chose the options to make fingers, and I'm glad that I did. It was a bit fiddly, but I love having the fingers.
One cool thing about these mitts is that the yarn was gifted by a friend, and I used a pattern written by a friend. I think about them whenever I pull on the mitts, and I think it makes the wool just a little bit warmer.
I used less than half of the skein, and I'm planning to make another pair to give to someone else!

Those look nice and toasty! I've been wearing my wrist warmers a lot lately, and thinking about knitting some more myself....

I just made some Dashing mitts, and seeing these makes me want more fingerless gloves! Those are really lovely.

Pretty mitts and even better that they make you think of friends.

I've been wanting to make myself some mitts but hadn't yet found a pattern that "spoke" to me. This pattern I like a lot (bookmarked it in a flash). They're so cute how you made them a little shorter, but the long version looks tempting, too. Excellent use of some lovely gift yarn.

Love that phrase "makes the wool just a little bit warmer." That's the perfect description of the knitterly intersection of love and wool.

Lovely! Especially nice that the yarn and pattern were from friends. I wore my fingerless mitts this morning. I really should make some more. Fun and easy.

I love that color! All you need now is for it to stay cold out there.

I love them - unfortunately it doesn't get cold enough for mittens in Sydney...

They are lovely - great colors. If I wasn't so darn busy I'd make some, too!

These are perfect. I have been thinking of mitts for a while now, I think I need a pair of these, without the fingers though, I can't do fiddly right now. But yours are perfection itself. Perfection!
