Finally, I feel satisfied with eleven single socks. I've been thinking about this for awhile, and I have picked out which pair is going to be completed first. Do you think you know?
Below are the details of all eleven singles. Leave a comment on this post before 11:59 pm EST on Saturday June 30th with your guess, and you could win!
1. Childs First Sock in Shell Pattern by Nancy Bush, Collinette Jitterbug in Velvet Plum
2. Merino Lace Socks by Anne Woodbury, Wollmeise Sockenwolle in Brombeere
3. Embossed Leaves Socks by Mona Schmidt, Sundara Sock Yarn in Cherry Blossom
4. Spiral Boot Socks by Veronik Avery, Socks that Rock Silkie in Walking on the Wild Tide
5. Dalia by Sundara Murphy, Sundara Sock Yarn in Dahlia
6. Lombard Street Socks by Susan Lawrence, Tess Super Sock & Baby in pale green
7. Snicket Socks by Sabine Riefler, Sundara Sport Merino in Charcoal over Cotton Candy
8. Evening Stockings for a Young Lady by Nancy Bush, Brooks Farm Acero
9. Monkey by Cookie A., Apple Laine Apple Pie in Pretty in Pink
10. Sidewinders by NonaKnits, Wollmeise Sockenwolle in Amazonas
11. Loksins! by Cassie of Too Much Wool, Socks That Rock Lightweight in Sherbet
I'm sure you want to know what the prize is. It's a skein of the same yarn that I'll be knitting up first (in your choice of available colors). Which leads to an interesting psychology experiment... are you voting for the sock that I'm most likely to be starting, or for the yarn that you most want to win? I've checked around, and all of these yarns are available for purchase online or in my LYS, so availability should not be a factor in your choice. If more than one person guesses the winning sock, I'll draw from those names to select a winner.
Leave a comment with your guess (and with your reasoning-- I'd be most interested to know) before Saturday is done! Good luck!

I vote for Sock #1, Child's First Sock, in Jitterbug. My reasoning is as follows:
a)I assume it's the first one you made, so maybe you want to go in ourder?
b)I've been wanting to make that sock myself, so I'm living vicariously through you!
c)I've heard such great things about Jitterbug, I'd love to win some!

I'm going with #3 Embossed leaves. It's such a nice color and pattern and that's what I'D be knitting;-)

Oohhh - this is a hard one...they are all wonderful!! You managed to pair up 11 great patterns with 11 great yarns!
I am going to guess the Embossed Leaves. It is a nice spring color, I've heard the pattern is fun to do, and Sundara yarn - who wouldn't want to work with that again soon!
Posted by: stacey | June 28, 2007 at 11:14 AM
Hi- got to be #8 - you declared it 'Penultimate'. Which other way could you go? ;-) They are all beautiful!
Posted by: beth | June 28, 2007 at 11:25 AM
I gotta go with Monkey.
Posted by: Kim | June 28, 2007 at 11:51 AM
I have no idea! I only found your blog recently and I don't know enough about you!
I LOVE your Loksins!, and they're for Sockapalooza so maybe you'll want to get that out of the way before August 2nd? But then, maybe not.
I'm tempted to guess the Dalia Sundara sock because I'd most like to win Sundara sock yarn in this contest...but...hmmm...
I think you're going to do the Loksin! Number 11. Because you'll want to get the deadline out of the way and because it's such a great pattern! Also then maybe you won't feel guilty knitting socks for yourself after your pal's sock is done?
Posted by: Arianne | June 28, 2007 at 11:56 AM
I'm going to guess the Sockpal sock. Maybe because that deadline is looming, and maybe you want to just get it out of the way.
Posted by: Liz K. | June 28, 2007 at 12:02 PM
I'm going to guess #5, mostly because I've never tried Sundara and I hope I win a chance to... :-)
Posted by: Elinor | June 28, 2007 at 12:20 PM
I was going to guess that you would finish up your sock pal's socks, but as that one seems to be getting the most votes, I'm going to go with the Snicket socks, #7. I started a pair of these but didn't like my choice for the yarn and ripped it out!!
Posted by: gina d. | June 28, 2007 at 12:20 PM
My guess will be #11 since they are for your pal. Pretty colors by the way.
Posted by: Karen | June 28, 2007 at 12:22 PM
I'm going with #10 because it is such a different knit!
Posted by: Tanya | June 28, 2007 at 12:54 PM
Oo! Oo! Oo! Number 5, almost entirely because I want to try the Sundara.
Posted by: Ariel | June 28, 2007 at 01:04 PM
I'm going with #2
I really have no clue, so, yes, I am voting for the yarn.
Posted by: Christy / Not Hip | June 28, 2007 at 01:07 PM
I'm guessing number 11 because it is your sock pal sock, and there's a deadline!
Posted by: Emma | June 28, 2007 at 01:25 PM
I am guessing #11 because of the deadline, but I expected more people to be guessing #4 since it a club members only color.
Posted by: Nia | June 28, 2007 at 01:27 PM
Certainly #11, because it's not going to be part of your permanent sock collection. (Sockapalooza 4 stranger) Besides, your inexplicably attracted to it's lurid allure.
Posted by: Debra | June 28, 2007 at 01:29 PM
I bet it will be the last sock - the one for your sock pal. I think it must be because you are knitting for someone else and you need to get it done.
Posted by: Trish | June 28, 2007 at 01:36 PM
The last sock, the Sockapalooza one. Once that's off your back, you can go back to knitting socks for yourself with a clear conscience. ;-)
Posted by: Beth S. | June 28, 2007 at 01:59 PM
#8, cause it's so pretty, how could you resist?
Posted by: Cathy | June 28, 2007 at 02:13 PM
I'm going to have to go with #5. I figure it's got to be one of the older ones, but not the oldest. And probably not one you had any discouraging setbacks with... and also not #11 since you'll have to finish that one anyway, so you might as well make yourself finish another, right? And Dahlia is so pretty!
Posted by: Stella | June 28, 2007 at 02:30 PM
I think it will be the sidewinders #10, the sock that is like no other sock knitting. Also, the colors are lovely so if I'm right I'll be pretty happy :)
Posted by: elise | June 28, 2007 at 04:47 PM
I'm going to go with No. 10 because (a) it will be the quickest and you get it finished before you absolutely HAVE to finish your Sockapalooza sock and (b) I lust after Wollmeise, :-)
Posted by: Dave | June 28, 2007 at 04:58 PM
I'm going to go with number eight because they look Summery and light.
Number eleven just seems too obvious for so many reasons. ;)
Posted by: Suz | June 28, 2007 at 05:13 PM
I'm guessing #11 so you don't have to worry about making the deadline for your sock pal. Plus you know about my love affair with Socks that Rock.
Posted by: Christine | June 28, 2007 at 06:10 PM
You will of course proceed with the Snicket Sock.
Why?
Because Sundara's Charcoal over ANYTHING is my favourite yarn and it isn't readily available in AU and you want me to have a pair of socks like you, don't you? Seeing as I might be borrowing your GORGEOUS wedding dress and all... :)
Posted by: Nora | June 28, 2007 at 08:20 PM
Sock #11. Big surprise here right? I see all of the socks together and it screams to be finished...and to eat Trix.
Posted by: Sacha | June 28, 2007 at 08:33 PM
I'm going to guess #10, because the Sidewinders are the most unconventional pattern you did and I (at least) would want to do the second before I forgot all the details.
(I really wanted to guess #5 or #3 because if you've got more of Sundara's Cherry Blossom or Dahlia, I want to know how you scored it.)
Posted by: Allison | June 28, 2007 at 08:42 PM
I'm going with the Sockapalooza sock, #11, since you've got to send it out! Oh, now I've read the other comments and I guess it wasn't an original thought. But that's my logic!
I love these patterns, more for my list.
Posted by: Kathy | June 28, 2007 at 08:57 PM
I am going for #5, it's so beautiful!
Posted by: Alissa | June 28, 2007 at 09:06 PM
I'm going with #10 because the pattern is new and different and they seem to knit up fast, plus I want some of that yarn!
And if you once described #8 as your penultimate pair, then you'd be knitting them second to last, so it's clearly not that pair!
Posted by: Mintyfresh | June 28, 2007 at 10:38 PM
Hmmm, that's a tough one. I'll guess the sidewinders, to cement the details of the pattern in your head.
Blessings!

I'm so bad at contests. I'm going with #3 Embossed Leaves simply because I remember your comments on that sock and yarn best. They made more of an impression on me, which makes me think you really liked knitting that sock even more than usual.
They are all beautiful!
Posted by: Brenda | June 28, 2007 at 11:53 PM
I think it'll be the Loksins because those are the Sockapalooza socks. You probably have time to finish a different pair first, if you want. But I think you'll finish the socks for your pal before finishing any socks for yourself. You're generous, gracious and thoughtful like that. Not that I'm trying to nudge you into my guess. Oh no. I would never do something like that. Tee hee.
Posted by: Jean | June 29, 2007 at 01:20 AM
I say #2. Just because I like the number 2. :) They are all beautiful!
Posted by: Jessica | June 29, 2007 at 10:35 AM
I guess the snicket socks, because the pattern looks fun and the yarn weight makes it fast.
Posted by: Ebony | June 29, 2007 at 11:04 AM
#11 because it is fresh in your mind and it is for your Sock pal (deadline). Plus it is beautiful and if I were to ever breakdown and knit socks it would be what I would like for myself.
Thanks for letting me play.

I choose #1. I just love this pattern! (and I love blue) Hmmm, does this mean I'm picking the one "I" like best? No, no, I think you do too. hehe :)
Posted by: Jen | June 29, 2007 at 04:35 PM
i'm guessing it'll be sock #5 - the dalia socks! they're soooo pretty!
Posted by: chris | June 29, 2007 at 06:23 PM
I vote for sock #8 – it's so pretty, and the colour is perfect! At least I would finish it first. :-D Although I have to say that all your socks are really beautiful.
Posted by: terhi | June 30, 2007 at 07:56 AM
How fun! I think your first pair will be Merino Lace. Go for the Wollmeise!!!
