1. Because of a trick of frequent flier miles, it was actually cheaper to fly first class to California. I had never been able to do this before, and I really enjoyed the flight. Someone hung up my coat for me, the seats were wide and had a cupholder in the middle, and I still had plenty of room even when the woman in front of me leaned her seat back. We had a six course meal and wine to go with it. It's too bad I cannot afford this all of the time.
2. It was warm in San Francisco this weekend. Which was nice, except that I only brought wool sweaters and wool socks with me. It turns out sometimes wool is NOT the answer.
3. On the train to the airport, my boyfriend and I were discussing my Anemoi Mittens. David said it would be cool if there were mittens that had an additional free finger so that you would have more dexterity. I was skeptical. When we showed up at David's mother's house, she was working on the pattern above. I kid you not.
4. Even though I packed a lot of yarn for the trip, I only used one ball. I cannot imagine going away for the weekend and only taking one ball. Can you? It was such a comfort to me to know I had a couple of projects waiting in the wings just in case time suddenly stood still.
5. I got to sleep in on Sunday, so daylight savings time did not affect me too much. I really enjoyed leaving work today and seeing that it was still light outside. The world was filled with possibility! I could take blog pictures in sunlight without waiting for the weekend or getting up early! Hooray for sunlight.
6. My original idea was to have a list of eleven things about this weekend. It's really too bad my favorite number isn't, say, nine.
7. I did the coordinating socks thing again this weekend. It was fun.
8. I had to drive a relative's car from the hospital back to her home. Although I was quite nervous about this, the trip went well. We parked safely in the garage. I was wondering how to close the garage door, and then I found a button that was a likely candidate. The door started closing, and I must say that I panicked. It was an older garage door, and I was afraid that if I did not get out fast enough I might end up in the hospital on my own accord. As I scrambled out of the garage, just as I passed the point of no return, my purse slipped off my arm and landed on the garage floor. I caught a glimpse of it before the door closed resolutely.

We called our relative and asked her how to get back in to the garage. Oh, it's easy, she said, just push the button on the garage door opener. Hmm, that was still in the car. Apparently I was supposed to take it with me. OK, then, there's an extra one inside the house. Except it wasn't; it was with my relative. OK, well the third option is more difficult. It's the following: Go into the library, find the correct drawer, find the correct set of keys among those in the drawer, go out the back door, open a creaky wooden gate, walk down a long dim alleyway, open a miniature door that leads to a cluttered storage room, walk past all of the clutter to a hidden corner, release a pulley that lowers a ladder, and then climb down the ladder into the garage. This was all accomplished with the phone to my ear. I felt like I had just played a game of Myst. The handbag and garage door opener were retrieved, the process was repeated in backwards order, and we were late to dinner.
9. I did some knitting. Expect a few Finished Object reports in the next couple of days.

Why yes, those are the second socks.
